Nuevo Laredo is one of the most important land ports of entry between Mexico and the United States, serving as a critical engine for binational trade and logistics through both vehicular and rail crossings.
The city operates three main international vehicular bridges connecting Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, with Laredo, Texas:
1. Gateway to the Americas International Bridge
Connects the downtown areas of both cities and allows the crossing of vehicles and pedestrians.
2. Juárez–Lincoln International Bridge
Operates 24 hours a day for non-commercial vehicles, primarily serving passenger and bus traffic.
3. World Trade International Bridge (Nuevo Laredo III / Puente del Comercio Mundial)
Dedicated exclusively to commercial freight traffic, this bridge is one of the highest-volume cargo crossings in North America, playing a central role in U.S.–Mexico trade.
Ongoing capacity expansion projects, including bridge and lane improvements, are underway to reduce congestion and improve crossing times, reflecting the strategic importance of these ports of entry to regional and national competitiveness.
Complementing vehicular traffic, two international railway bridges connect Nuevo Laredo and Laredo, forming part of what is widely recognized as one of the most important logistics platforms in the Americas.
These rail crossings are essential for high-volume freight movement between Mexico and the United States, supporting automotive, industrial, agricultural, and consumer goods supply chains.
