Chihuahua is a state located in the central part of northern Mexico, known for its territorial extension of 247,455 km², which represents 12.6% of the national territory. This considerable area makes Chihuahua the largest state in the country.
In terms of borders, Chihuahua has a strategic location that places it in contact with various states and countries. To the north, it shares an extensive border with the United States, providing access to important border crossings and facilitating trade and the movement of people between the two countries. To the south, the state borders the states of Sinaloa and Durango, while to the east it borders the state of Coahuila, and to the west, the state of Sonora.

Chihuahua is a state with a total population of 3,741,869 inhabitants, with a slightly higher female population at 50.5%, while men make up 49.5%. This balanced gender distribution is reflected in the social and economic activities of the state.
The most populous municipalities in Chihuahua are Juárez, the most populous with 1,512,450 inhabitants, reflecting its importance as an economic and commercial center, as well as its proximity to the United States border.
The state capital, Chihuahua, has a population of 937,674 inhabitants, and Cuauhtémoc, with 180,638 inhabitants, is another prominent municipality known for its dynamic economic activity, especially in agriculture and livestock farming. Its population continues to grow due to employment opportunities and the quality of life the region offers.

The state of Chihuahua has a variety of climates distributed unevenly across its vast territory. In 40% of the state, there is a very dry climate, concentrated in the sierras and plains of the north. This aridity affects vegetation and land use in these areas.
The 33% of the territory has a dry and semi-dry climate, located in the lower parts of the Sierra Madre Occidental. This region faces challenges related to water resource management and climate conditions.
In the higher parts of the Sierra Madre Occidental, there is a temperate sub-humid climate covering 24% of the state. This climate allows for greater humidity and more moderate conditions, which supports a diversity of land uses and economic activities.
Only 3% of Chihuahua's territory experiences a sub-humid and warm climate, which occurs in very specific areas of the state.
The average temperature in the state is 17°C. The highest temperatures, over 30°C, are recorded between May and August, while the lowest temperatures, around 0°C, occur in January.
