The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) has reached a new historic milestone as it celebrates its 10th anniversary — surpassing $300 million in total fundraising since its founding. The achievement not only exceeds its original target of $250 million but also underscores the institution’s growing influence as a catalyst for education, innovation, and economic progress across South Texas.

A decade of growth and community trust

In just ten years, UTRGV has evolved into one of the most dynamic public universities in the state. With $302.8 million raised since 2015, including $35.6 million in the last academic year, the university has established a strong culture of philanthropy that reflects the confidence of its alumni, donors, and regional partners.

UTRGV’s endowment fund surpassed $200 million for the first time, now standing at $218.5 million, creating long-term resources to support scholarships, research, and faculty development. The university also set a record during its most recent Day of Giving, raising over $309,000 in a single day — a testament to the deep connection between the institution and the community it serves.

Building a legacy of opportunity

According to university leadership, this milestone represents far more than a financial achievement. It reflects a shared belief that the Rio Grande Valley deserves a world-class institution capable of transforming lives and driving regional prosperity. Through expanded academic programs, research initiatives, and community partnerships, UTRGV continues to empower students and strengthen the economic foundations of the Valley.

The university’s commitment to accessibility, innovation, and impact has positioned it as a national example of how education can reshape regions. With record enrollment, expanded facilities, and a growing endowment, UTRGV is setting the stage for an even more ambitious second decade.

A vision for the next decade

UTRGV’s success is grounded in collaboration — between students, faculty, donors, and local stakeholders who share a vision of sustained progress. As it moves forward, the university remains focused on advancing talent, technology, and opportunity throughout South Texas, ensuring that every investment made today continues to shape generations to come.
