The manufacturing sector in Texas continues to demonstrate steady growth, with the addition of 2,000 new jobs in May 2025, according to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
The report shows that total manufacturing employment in the state reached 977,800 jobs in May, up from 975,800 in April. This consistent upward trend reflects the state’s ability to attract and retain industry investment—driven by reshoring, foreign direct investment (FDI), and the expansion of strategic sectors such as automotive, electronics, and aerospace.
Reshoring and FDI Fuel Manufacturing Growth in Texas
Compared to the same period last year, the industry has also seen healthy year-over-year growth. In May 2024, the manufacturing workforce in Texas stood at 973,400 jobs—indicating a net increase of 4,400 jobs over the last 12 months.
This employment growth is supported by various factors: the strengthening of regional supply chains, rising domestic and international demand, and state-level policies focused on workforce training and economic development.
Manufacturing Momentum Boosts Texas Economy
According to the state's nonfarm employment data, the largest job gains in May were recorded in the trade, transportation, and utilities sector, which added 8,400 new positions.
The increase in manufacturing employment signals confidence in Texas’ industrial ecosystem and presents additional opportunities to attract investment—particularly in border regions like the Rio Grande Valley, where infrastructure and logistics continue to evolve.
