With one of the youngest workforces in the United States, Texas remains the leading state in workforce development, boasting over 14.5 million workers.

According to data released by the State of Texas office in Mexico, in December, Dallas and Houston led growth among metropolitan areas for the second consecutive month.

In addition, Texas ranks highest in retention, with 82% of those born in the state choosing to stay. In 2024, Texas also held the top spot nationally in population growth, welcoming over 560,000 new residents.

Educational Strength

Texas is home to 37 public universities and 50 community college districts. Furthermore, eight of the nation’s top 150 universities are located in Texas, along with 11 Tier One research universities that contribute to the comprehensive development of talent. Through programs like the Skills Development Fund, the Texas Talent Connection Grant, and the Governor's University Research Initiative, the state recruits internationally renowned researchers, strengthening higher education institutions and fostering the workforce of the future.

Thus, Texas' workforce and the talent of its residents are consolidated as the state’s greatest resource and the primary reason why businesses choose to establish operations in Texas.
