Laredo International Airport (LRD) continues to consolidate its position as a strategic logistics hub for trade between Mexico and the United States. In March of this year alone, LRD reported a total air cargo movement valued at $64.02 million.
According to official data released by the airport, $32.34 million corresponded to imports, while $31.68 million accounted for exports—reflecting a well-balanced flow of goods through this critical cross-border gateway.
Among the most commonly transported goods were civil aircraft parts, automotive catalysts, and air and oil filters—essential inputs for the manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive industries.
Upward Trend
Since the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Laredo International Airport has shown a remarkable and sustained recovery. Industrial reactivation, the rise of nearshoring, and the strengthening of binational trade have all been key drivers. In 2024, the airport recorded a total of $667.55 million in commercial air operations.
LRD stands out as a vital platform for business connectivity between Mexico and the United States—not only for its strategic location, but also for its infrastructure designed for specialized cargo operations and proximity to major industrial corridors in northern Tamaulipas and southern Texas.
