To respond to the energy demands of the manufacturing sector in northern Tamaulipas, the State Secretary of Energy, Walter Julián Ángel Jiménez, met with representatives of business chambers, real estate developers, and industrial park operators in McAllen, Texas, in a high-level working session aimed at fostering industrial competitiveness.

During the meeting, participants reviewed progress on electrical infrastructure and outlined current projects designed to enhance the supply and reliability of energy in the region. Key stakeholders included Humberto Martínez, National President of INDEX; Adam Gonzalez, CEO of the Rio South Texas Region at COSTEP; Sergio Gracia, CEO of México Industry; Martín Anzaldúa of Grupo Río San Juan; Ramiro González from Las Ventanas Industrial Park in Matamoros; Alejandro Ibarra García, CEO of Garalh International LLC; Iliana Alamar, Managing Partner at Garahl Internacional S.A.; and Samanta Almaguer, General Manager of Centinela Property.

The initiatives discussed include the construction of new substations and upgrades to distribution nodes, which are expected to deliver more stable and efficient energy service to regional industries. These infrastructure improvements are seen as essential to sustaining economic growth and reinforcing investment attraction strategies in the state.

“We gathered to analyze the situation in Reynosa, Matamoros, and the industrial corridor in northern Tamaulipas, and to share updates on ongoing coordination with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). One substation is already under construction, and we are identifying new land and opportunities to develop additional facilities,” said the Secretary.

The session concluded with a shared commitment between the public and private sectors to advance the development of a modern, resilient, and investment-ready energy system tailored to the strategic priorities of northern Mexico’s industrial base.
