The Rio Grande Valley region in Texas has significant potential to develop supply chains and manufacturing to support the growing global semiconductor industry.

The South Texas Economic Development Council (Costep), in collaboration with the Mexico-U.S. Foundation for Science (FUMEC), held an open dialogue in Harlingen, Texas, focused on various strategies to engage the productive sector in this industry, as well as on opportunities and challenges.

Among the region’s key competitive advantages are its skilled workforce, infrastructure that supports logistics processes, cross-border commercial alliances, and strategic location, which facilitates the supply to companies in the region that use semiconductors.

The event brought together business leaders, educators, developers, and representatives from various organizations. Eugenio Marín, CEO of FUMEC, shared his vision and addressed key concerns for fostering the region’s growth in this sector. This dialogue underscores the importance of strengthening connections to drive industrial development in South Texas.
