Reckitt , a multinational company with more than 200 years of experience and with a presence in more than 68 countries on six continents , shared that, as part of the development plan that it has implemented since 2021 and that will continue throughout 2023, it will invest more than 500 million pesos at its plant located in the Coyoacán mayor's office in Mexico City.
“Mexico is part of the top 10 markets globally, which makes it a strategic territory for the company and that is why we make a great economic commitment to CDMX. At Reckitt we have drawn up a roadmap so that these important investments are reflected in the stimulation of the local economy; the generation of jobs in CDMX, in addition to the more than 500 that it already promotes at the Calzada de Tlalpan plant; and the development of even more projects that benefit both the community and the environment”, commented Oz Silivrili, general manager of Reckitt Mexico .
The investment will be destined to the development of technology, quality and implementation of sanitary measures within the world-class plant , which is the most important in the production of free access medicines (also called OTC) in Latin America, and even leads the export of Mucinex, a medicine to treat respiratory diseases, to the United States, thus positioning Mexico as an ally for the health of the neighboring country, while boosting its economy and the generation of local jobs.
“We are very proud of our performance, which in the first months of the year is reflected in the production of more than 90 million units that belong to liquid products such as Luftal, solid products such as Mucinex and Tempra Forte, and powder products such as Picot. This will be possible with the commissioning of two new manufacturing reactors with an automatic cleaning system, a new water distribution system, two packaging line upgrades and two other new packaging lines, one for solids and the other for liquids. 2023”, declared Marcelo Tovara, director of the Tlalpan Plant.
For its part, the event was attended by the distinguished presence of the mayor of Coyoacán, José Giovani Gutiérrez Aguilar, who declared that "our vision is to position Coyoacán as the first entity of economic growth in the country and this can only be achieved with the collaboration of companies as Reckitt. I am honored to be able to celebrate 60 years of success together. In our mayor's office we are ready to receive investment and offer a qualified workforce that allows us to meet the goal of collaborating with the health of our community, and that is why together, Coyoacán and Reckitt, we are unstoppable”.
In addition to these milestones for the Mexican plant , the company also has a strong interest in making nutrition, health and hygiene a right, and not a privilege , in the regions in which it operates, so in the 2020-2022 period implemented social responsibility actions, including the donation of more than 16.1 million products through different initiatives and programs, directly impacting more than 26.8 million people and providing more than 525,000 hours of education, together with more than 20 allies. Only for these social actions the company made an investment of more than 60.5 million pesos.
“This is proof of Reckitt 's ongoing and ongoing commitment to making access to health, nutrition and hygiene a right, not a privilege, while creating a healthier planet and a more just society. We will continue working together for the continuous improvement of our city and its population”, concluded Marcelo Tobara.
