On October 23, Puerto Verde Global Trade Bridge announced the delivery of the first water tanker truck to Quemado, Texas, providing vital relief to more than 30 homes that had been struggling without access to water.
Bringing immediate relief to families affected by dry wells
The initiative was launched in response to severe water shortages caused by dried wells in the area. In collaboration with Commissioner Olga Ramos and partner Select Materials, Puerto Verde mobilized resources to ensure that residents could once again access one of life’s most essential needs.
“This effort reflects our belief that every community deserves access to essential resources,” stated Puerto Verde in a press release. “We’re deeply grateful to Commissioner Ramos and Select Materials for their partnership and leadership, and to the residents of Quemado for their patience and resilience as we work together toward lasting solutions.”
While this is a temporary solution, the company emphasized it marks an important first step. Puerto Verde will continue supporting the effort until Maverick County and the community of Quemado complete the installation of new water systems and hydrants.
On Friday, October 24, residents with dry wells were able to bring their mobile tanks to fill from the Select Materials water truck, following an organized distribution process managed by Commissioner Ramos’ office to ensure equitable access.
