The strengthening of regional supply chains and the promotion of local content were central themes of Expo Potosí Industrial 2025.

Among the featured participants was the Port of Brownsville, one of Texas’s main logistics gateways with strong commercial ties to Mexico. Its presence reinforced the commitment to connect Mexican industries with agile, secure, and efficient port infrastructure.

A Strategic Partner for Mexican Competitiveness

During his participation, Guillermo Rico-Leal, Director of Business Development and Marketing at the Port of Brownsville, highlighted that 90% of the port’s operations are directly linked to Mexico.

“We are here to strengthen our relationship with Mexican industrial regions. Many companies in San Luis Potosí already receive products through the port, and we want to continue expanding that collaboration,” he stated.

Rico-Leal explained that the port’s presence at the Expo — both through an exhibit booth and a panel participation — is part of a strategy to foster logistical partnerships and enhance value chains with Mexican companies.

“We seek to develop logistics chains with high value to offer greater competitiveness to companies. We want more industrial regions in Mexico to take advantage of the Port of Brownsville’s infrastructure to optimize their operations,” he added.

Agile Infrastructure and Logistical Advantages

The Port of Brownsville features robust infrastructure without congestion issues, enabling agile and reliable operations. According to Rico-Leal, this efficiency is key to attracting more Mexican companies seeking to improve transportation timeframes and costs.

He also noted that highway connections to San Luis Potosí are wide and easily accessible, and follow the same weight standards used in Mexico, which facilitates transportation from the port to the international bridge seamlessly.

The port offers competitive advantages in bulk cargo, project cargo, and large-volume freight, allowing Mexican companies to benefit directly from efficiency and reliability.

“Our objective is to transfer that competitiveness to companies in Mexico, helping them become more efficient in their logistics and strengthening their supply chains,” he emphasized.

Regional Connectivity and Forward Vision

Participation in Expo Potosí Industrial reinforces the Port of Brownsville’s long-term vision to expand its presence across Mexico’s key industrial regions.

“We are working to link with more productive zones in the country. We already have several projects and ideas underway, and we hope to return next year to continue building these alliances,” Rico-Leal shared.

With this engagement, the Port of Brownsville consolidates its role as a strategic partner for the Mexican industrial sector, advancing logistical integration and regional competitiveness.
