Port Laredo is reinforcing its role in North America’s fresh produce supply chain through its participation in the Viva Fresh Expo 2026, held April 16–18 in Texas.

Recognized as one of the leading events for the fresh produce industry, Viva Fresh brings together growers, distributors, retailers, and logistics providers from across the United States and Mexico, creating a platform focused on trade, supply chain coordination, and market access.

Positioning Laredo within the fresh produce corridor

Port Laredo’s presence at the expo highlights its function as a critical gateway for perishable goods moving between Mexico and the United States. Before reaching distribution centers and retail shelves, a significant share of fresh produce imports crosses through Laredo, making efficiency at the border a key factor in product quality, timing, and cost control.

At the event, the port emphasized its role within the broader Tex-Mex produce corridor, where cold chain performance and transit times directly impact the competitiveness of suppliers and distributors. By engaging directly with industry stakeholders, Port Laredo continues to strengthen its visibility among companies that depend on reliable cross-border logistics for time-sensitive shipments.

Cold chain performance and infrastructure investment

As part of its participation, Port Laredo is offering direct engagement with logistics and trade professionals through on-site consultations focused on cold chain optimization. These discussions center on practical strategies to improve throughput, reduce delays, and enhance handling conditions for perishable goods moving through the port.

The port is also presenting updates on planned infrastructure expansions scheduled for 2026, aimed at reducing wait times and improving processing efficiency at the border. These upgrades are particularly relevant for produce shipments, where transit speed and temperature control are essential to maintaining product integrity.

By combining operational insight with forward-looking infrastructure planning, Port Laredo is positioning itself as a partner in supply chain performance for companies operating within the fresh produce sector.
