Port Laredo recorded US$353.94 billion in international trade during 2025, an increase of US$14.94 billion compared with 2024, underscoring the sustained strength of cross-border commerce between the United States and Mexico.

The year-over-year growth of 4.4% reinforces Port Laredo’s status as the busiest land port in the Western Hemisphere and one of the top three U.S. ports of entry by trade value, according to the latest data from WorldCity.

Despite shifts in federal trade policy and global market dynamics that affected cargo patterns nationwide, Laredo maintained strong performance in key sectors including automotive manufacturing, energy products, technology components, and consumer goods.

More than 97% of Port Laredo’s trade is directly linked to Mexico, highlighting the region’s strategic importance within the largest bilateral trade relationship of the United States and the ongoing integration of North American supply chains.

Mayor Victor D. Treviño emphasized that the results reflect the resilience of the binational economy, noting that even amid evolving global trade policies and tariff structures, the port continues to serve as a vital gateway for commerce and a stabilizing force for supply chains in both countries.

Industry analysts noted that while tariff adjustments and international market fluctuations influenced the national rankings of several U.S. ports in 2025, Laredo’s diversified trade base and nearshoring-driven manufacturing relocation trends helped sustain growth and strengthen long-term competitiveness.

The broader Laredo Customs District—which includes all federally administered ports in the region—recorded US$481.8 billion in total trade activity during 2025, illustrating the scale and strategic relevance of the Laredo trade corridor.

Local authorities indicated that continued investment in infrastructure, bridge modernization, rail connectivity improvements, and enhanced cross-border coordination will be essential to sustaining growth and maintaining the port’s competitive position in North America.
