Port Laredo has been honored with two Platinum MarCom Awards, the highest recognition in the international MarCom Creative Competition, for its bilingual campaign “Hot City – Cold Chain.” The awards position Port Laredo among the most innovative trade-focused economic development entities in the Americas, celebrating its ability to communicate strategic advantages in a competitive global logistics landscape.
Showcasing leadership in temperature-controlled logistics
The Hot City – Cold Chain campaign highlights Port Laredo’s unique capability to move temperature-sensitive goods efficiently and reliably, even under the extreme climate conditions of South Texas. The narrative centers on the region’s advanced cold chain infrastructure, cross-border logistics expertise, and a supply chain ecosystem strengthened by decades of collaboration between the U.S. and Mexico.
The initiative reaffirms Port Laredo’s role as North America’s leading inland port for refrigerated and controlled-temperature cargo, supporting sectors such as fresh produce, protein exports, pharmaceuticals, and processed foods.
A communication strategy grounded in regional competitiveness
The campaign was developed with a binational marketing approach, combining English and Spanish branding, digital media deployment, and trade-focused storytelling designed for investors, logistics operators, and international supply chain partners.
Rather than promoting infrastructure alone, the campaign communicates trust, operational certainty, and logistical performance — attributes that global shippers prioritize when selecting trade corridors.
Felipe G. Romero, Marketing Manager at Port Laredo, emphasized the strategic intent behind the initiative:
“This recognition reflects our commitment to telling the story of a region built on trade, collaboration, and capability. Port Laredo continues to demonstrate that inland ports can achieve world-class performance in cold-chain logistics.”
A gateway for North American commerce
Port Laredo continues to lead the United States in cross-border commercial activity, serving as a central link in supply chains connecting manufacturers, farmers, distributors, and consumers across North America.
Through strategic investment, trade promotion efforts, and binational cooperation, the port strengthens the competitiveness of the region and advances the economic prosperity shared between South Texas and Mexico.
