Port Laredo, the largest inland port in the United States and the leading gateway for overland trade with Mexico, participated in the Global Produce & Floral Show, held October 16–18 in Anaheim, California. The event brought together key players from North America’s fresh produce, perishables, and cold logistics sectors.

During the exhibition, the Laredo delegation presented its signature campaign, “Hot City, Cold Chain,” which emphasized the port’s competitive advantages in refrigerated cargo handling and its ability to maintain one of the most efficient cross-border cold chains between the United States and Mexico.

“Laredo combines the energy and warmth of the border with state-of-the-art logistics and refrigeration technology,” said Felipe Romero, Marketing Manager at Port Laredo. “Our goal was to connect with producers, exporters, and investors seeking faster, safer, and more sustainable supply chain solutions.”

The delegation included representatives from the City of Laredo Economic Development Department, the International Bridge System, the Laredo International Airport, as well as binational private-sector partners such as Garros Inc., the Customs Brokers Association of Nuevo Laredo (ALFA), and CODEFRONT – Puerto Colombia–Laredo. Together, they promoted the region as a strategic logistics corridor for international trade.

Strengthening North America’s Cold Supply Chain

Throughout the three-day event, Port Laredo’s representatives showcased the advantages of the Laredo–Nuevo León–Tamaulipas–Colombia corridor, underscoring its logistics infrastructure and cross-border efficiency.
Key highlights included:

  • Over 20,000 daily commercial crossings
  • 20 cold storage facilities totaling more than 1.5 million cubic feet
  • Joint inspections between U.S. CBP and Mexico’s ANAM
  • Foreign Trade Zone 94, offering fiscal and operational incentives
  • The Colombia–Laredo International Bridge, featuring modern infrastructure and advanced logistics processes

“This participation reaffirmed Laredo’s position as the logistics heart of North America and a key partner for Mexico’s agribusiness sector,” said Arnold Lozano, Director of Economic Development for the City of Laredo. “With partners like CODEFRONT and ALFA, we continue to strengthen regional competitiveness and promote binational collaboration.”

Promoting Cross-Border Investment and Nearshoring

The presence of Port Laredo at the Global Produce & Floral Show formed part of a broader strategy to promote the city as a hub for cold chain logistics, nearshoring, and cross-border investment. Through these efforts, Laredo reinforced its role as a cornerstone of North American trade integration.

Port Laredo — Hot City. Cold Chain.
A border that moves the world — now colder, faster, and more efficient.
