Port Laredo is set to strengthen cross-border dialogue between Mexico and the United States with the launch of the Port Laredo Global Trade Summit 2026, an international event that will bring together leaders from logistics, manufacturing, infrastructure, international trade, and government on July 13–14, 2026.
The summit emerges as a strategic response to the growing need to align key stakeholders in cross-border trade. According to Felipe Gabriel Romero, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Port Laredo, the initiative aims to elevate the city’s role beyond logistics.
“Laredo is the number one inland port in the United States, connecting North American supply chains every day. With this summit, we want Laredo to be not only a logistics hub, but also a place where the future of trade between Mexico and the United States is shaped,” he said.

A platform designed for the trade ecosystem
The Global Trade Summit is targeted at stakeholders actively involved in international trade. Participants will include manufacturing companies, logistics operators, industrial developers, trade agencies, customs authorities, investors, government representatives from both countries, universities, and students interested in careers related to trade and logistics.
Romero emphasized the importance of involving academia, highlighting the need to prepare the next generation of professionals.
“Laredo thrives on trade. It is essential for younger generations to understand this ecosystem and the career opportunities it offers,” he noted.
Keynotes, panels, and strategic networking
The summit program is structured to generate high-value insights and connections through:
- International keynotes on the future of global trade
- Specialized panels on logistics, infrastructure, and U.S.–Mexico trade policy
- Workshops focused on international trade and logistics innovation
- A business expo featuring industry companies
- Networking spaces connecting private sector leaders with government representatives
“This platform will enable conversations that don’t always happen over email. Here, the private sector will have direct access to the public sector to discuss challenges, opportunities, and investments,” Romero added.
Why Laredo?
The summit also aims to showcase the infrastructure, capabilities, and opportunities offered by Port Laredo, the most important inland port in North America, while positioning the city as a reference point for logistics innovation, nearshoring, and regional integration.
“If a company is looking to expand into the U.S. market, there is one gateway that moves more trade than any other—and it is here in Laredo, Texas,” Romero said.
In addition, the event will feature discussions on the role of artificial intelligence in logistics and manufacturing, a topic considered essential given the rapid pace of technological transformation.
With this first edition, Port Laredo aims to establish a binational meeting point where trends are analyzed, partnerships are built, and solutions for the future of trade are developed.
“Key decision-makers and the conversations that will define the future of U.S.–Mexico trade will be here,” Romero concluded.
Registration
The registration platform will open in the coming days, including an early bird phase for attendees who secure tickets in advance.
