Port Laredo participated in the 2026 Port of Eagle Pass Trade Summit, bringing the perspective of the nation’s No. 1 inland port to a high-level discussion on trade leadership, infrastructure, and the future of cross-border commerce.

During the event, Elsa Hinojosa, Bridge Director for the City of Laredo, joined the “State of Leadership” session, where four port directors representing Texas’ largest inland ports shared one platform to address the priorities shaping border operations and North American trade.

A shared conversation among Texas’ leading inland ports

The panel marked an important moment for regional collaboration, bringing together leadership from major Texas inland ports to discuss the operational and strategic challenges tied to growing trade volumes, infrastructure demands, and binational coordination.

For Port Laredo, participation in this conversation reinforced its role as a central player in the U.S.-Mexico trade corridor. As cross-border commerce continues to evolve under the USMCA framework, inland ports are increasingly being asked to operate not only as gateways, but as strategic logistics platforms for North American industry.

Laredo’s role in keeping North America connected

Hinojosa’s participation highlighted the operational excellence and infrastructure leadership that support Port Laredo’s position at the center of continental commerce. The discussion also underscored the importance of resilience, coordination, and long-term planning as border communities respond to new supply chain dynamics and the rise of smartshoring.

In this context, Port Laredo’s presence at the summit reflected more than representation. It placed Laredo within a broader leadership conversation on how Texas’ inland ports can support faster, more reliable, and more competitive trade flows between Mexico and the United States.
