With an estimated investment of $150 million and an ambitious infrastructure project, the Pharr International Bridge is moving decisively toward eliminating wait times and increasing the number of FAST-certified companies, reported Luis Bazán, Director of the border crossing.

During his participation as a speaker at Index Reynosa Forum 2025, Bazán explained that the bridge expansion is over 70% complete, with construction scheduled to conclude in January 2026 and full operation expected by March of the same year.

The director detailed that once the project is completed, two exclusive lanes will be enabled for FAST-certified companies, which will eliminate wait times and increase the participation of certified companies from 35% to 65%.

“The Pharr Bridge is not being built to be a parking lot, but rather a link that connects Mexico and the United States more efficiently. We do not want to just control wait times — we want to eliminate them,” Bazán emphasized.

He encouraged companies in the manufacturing sector to prepare for the new border operations model, move forward with their certification process, and take advantage of benefits such as agility, security, and reduced logistics costs.

“The project is already a reality. Companies must anticipate its opening in order to fully benefit from a smarter and more efficient border system,” he added.

With the expansion of the Pharr International Bridge, the Tamaulipas–Texas region reaffirms its strategic role in North American trade and its commitment to modernizing border infrastructure.
