“Mexico is a very attractive market for us,” confirmed Lilvette Santos, Director of Business Economic Development at Pharr EDC, during SelectUSA 2025 in Mexico City.
Santos mentioned that events like SelectUSA allow them to interact with different companies and counterparts within the economic development sector.
In an interview with México Industry, the Director of Business Economic Development at Pharr EDC highlighted that Pharr, Texas, is currently experiencing industrial growth, and its strategic location is highly beneficial for investment.
“Pharr is a city with a very strategic, central location within the entire southern part of Texas. We have a port of entry, which is the third-largest in the entire region,” she explained.
“Sixty percent of our crossings are based in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. And we are number one, of course, in all crossings related to products,” she pointed out.
The city is known as a hub for perishable goods; however, it is seeing significant industrial growth. According to Santos, Pharr has a growth plan for 2025-2026 that includes 12 million square feet in light manufacturing and supply chains, specifically targeting businesses located along the border between Mexico and the United States.
“We have growth, and we also have accessible land available for different types of use. We have a robust economy in both the industrial sector and the retail commercial sector,” she reiterated.
SelectUSA brings together business leaders, investors, and government representatives, where they discussed the strategic role both nations play as key economic partners.
