Texas continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing with the opening of a new 300-millimeter wafer fabrication facility developed by Texas Instruments in Sherman. The facility represents a major step forward for the state’s high-tech manufacturing ecosystem and signals long-term confidence in Texas as a base for advanced industrial investment.

Designed to house cutting-edge semiconductor technology, the new plant will support thousands of high-quality jobs over time and anchor a capital investment expected to reach $40 billion over the coming decades.

The project significantly expands domestic chip manufacturing capacity at a moment when semiconductors play a critical role across industries ranging from automotive and industrial systems to artificial intelligence and space technologies.

A Strategic Investment in the Future of Technology

The Sherman facility reflects the growing importance of resilient, U.S.-based semiconductor production. As global demand for microchips continues to accelerate, companies are prioritizing locations that offer scale, technical expertise, energy reliability, and a pro-manufacturing environment.

Texas has emerged as a natural fit for these requirements. The state combines a strong engineering talent base, world-class infrastructure, and a policy environment that supports long-term industrial planning. The addition of this advanced fab further consolidates Texas’ role as a cornerstone of the national semiconductor supply chain.

Texas Instruments and the Foundation of Modern Electronics

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas Instruments has played a defining role in the evolution of modern electronics for more than seven decades. From pioneering early semiconductor breakthroughs to delivering analog and embedded processing solutions for global markets, TI has remained deeply connected to Texas’ innovation ecosystem.

The new facility builds on that legacy, expanding TI’s manufacturing footprint while supporting industries that depend on reliable, high-performance chips. Automotive systems, industrial automation, communications equipment, and consumer electronics all stand to benefit from increased domestic production capacity.

Strengthening Texas’ Industrial Competitiveness

Beyond its direct economic impact, the new semiconductor facility reinforces Texas’ broader industrial strategy: attracting capital-intensive, technology-driven projects that create durable jobs and long-term value. Semiconductor manufacturing requires deep supply chains, specialized skills, and sustained investment—elements that generate multiplier effects across regional economies.

As advanced manufacturing continues to reshape global industry, Texas is positioning itself not only as a participant, but as a leader. The opening of Texas Instruments’ new semiconductor facility underscores that trajectory and highlights the state’s role in shaping the technologies that will define the next generation of economic growth.
