The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (Edinburg EDC) presented its new facilities, scheduled to open in November. This new and spacious building will allow for improved service and greater coordination with different organizations from the public, private, and educational sectors.
The new building is located at 617 W. University Dr., close to City Hall and adjacent to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). The $1 million investment for its construction was fully covered by the federal government. It will also house offices for Valley Metro and the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council.
“We have strong demand for services, people who need support to establish their companies, and now this office has the space to bring in more staff to help those entrepreneurs,” celebrated Raudel Garza, Executive Director of Edinburg EDC.
Garza emphasized that this is a project they had pursued for more than five years, made possible thanks to the city’s growth and the trust companies have shown by investing in Edinburg.
“We expect to occupy this space by November of this year, just a few months away. Edinburg is growing very quickly, and we are committed to ensuring none of the ongoing projects fall behind—this building is one of them,” he highlighted.
City representatives, Chamber of Commerce members, Edinburg EDC board members, and other community leaders joined the tour of the new building, which is expected to be inaugurated in November, marking a new era in the city’s economic development.
