Mission, Texas continues to strengthen its position as one of South Texas' most attractive destinations for industrial investment with the groundbreaking of Grupo Century's new aluminum recycling and manufacturing facility. The project represents a $50 million investment and is the largest single private-sector investment in the city's history.

The Mexico-based company will operate in the United States under the Zerluma brand and will develop a nearly 100,000-square-foot facility at the Mission Expressway Business Park. The plant will recycle U.S.-sourced aluminum into aluminum billets for customers in the manufacturing, automotive, industrial, and construction sectors across the United States, Mexico, Asia, and Europe.

In addition to creating 70 permanent, high-quality jobs, the facility is expected to generate hundreds of temporary construction jobs and deliver an estimated economic impact of more than $125 million, further strengthening Mission's industrial ecosystem and economic competitiveness.

The project reflects the success of the investment attraction strategy led by the City of Mission and the Mission Economic Development Corporation (Mission EDC), which have worked to position the city as a strategic hub for international companies seeking to serve the North American market.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Grupo Century executives, members of the Osorio family, local officials, and representatives from companies across the aluminum supply chain, underscoring the international significance of the investment.

Mission EDC President and CEO Teclo Garcia emphasized the project's importance to the city's economic development and expressed his appreciation for Grupo Century's confidence in Mission.

"I am very appreciative of the Osorio family and the entire Grupo Century team for their investment and commitment to Mission and Texas. Looking forward to a great partnership!" Garcia said.

Zerluma's expansion into Mission further strengthens industrial integration between Mexico and the United States and reflects the growing interest among Mexican manufacturers in expanding their operations into Texas to capitalize on the region's logistical advantages, business-friendly environment, and strong manufacturing base.

With this investment, Mission not only secures the largest private-sector project in its history but also continues to establish itself as a premier destination for advanced manufacturing, attracting high-value investment, driving regional economic growth, and strengthening North America's industrial supply chains.
