McAllen EDC participates in Statewide Energy Summit in Austin

The McAllen Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) participated in the “Powering the Future: Texas Energy Summit,” an event organized by the Texas Economic Development Corporation (TXEDC) in the city of Austin.


MEDC’s CEO Elizabeth Suarez and Chief Operating Officer Ralph García represented the city at this important gathering, which brought together state leaders, energy sector experts, and representatives from public and private organizations to discuss the future of energy in Texas.


The summit featured panel discussions on critical topics related to the state’s development, including:

  • An overview of the energy sector
  • Energy transmission infrastructure
  • Innovation and emerging business opportunities
  • Legislative updates in the energy field


Among the event’s featured speakers were Aaron Demerson, President and CEO of TXEDC; Adriana Cruz, Executive Director of Economic Development and Tourism of Texas; and Robert Black, Chief of Staff for the Governor’s Office.


McAllen EDC representatives also took the opportunity to engage with key figures in the energy sector, such as Chad Burnett, Vice President of Regulatory and Finance at AEP, and Dale Fowler, Economic and Business Development Manager at the same company. AEP remains one of the region’s most important strategic partners in economic growth initiatives.


Through this participation, McAllen EDC reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and strategic collaboration, ensuring the city’s active role in shaping the energy future of Texas.
