Laredo, Texas became the meeting point for a high-level binational dialogue during the first members’ meeting of COMCE Noreste Capítulo Laredo, an event that brought together business leaders, government officials, trade organizations, and regional stakeholders from both sides of the border.
The gathering underscored the growing relevance of the Dos Laredos region as one of North America’s most strategic trade corridors, where infrastructure, nearshoring, customs operations, and bilateral coordination are already shaping the future of regional competitiveness.
Laredo as a platform for North American trade
The meeting highlighted Laredo’s role as a critical connection between Mexico and the United States, particularly as companies continue to reorganize supply chains around proximity, speed, and cross-border efficiency.
As part of the agenda, Francisco Cervantes Díaz, former president of the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial, shared perspectives on business leadership in a period marked by uncertainty and transformation in global trade. His participation added national relevance to a regional conversation centered on competitiveness, foreign trade, and private-sector coordination.
Binational collaboration with regional leadership
The event included the participation of Dr. Victor D. Treviño, Mayor of Laredo, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, Secretary of Economy of Tamaulipas, and Eduardo A. Garza Robles, President of COMCE Noreste Capítulo Laredo.
The meeting also brought together representatives from Index Nuevo Laredo, including Enrique Morán, President of Index Nuevo Laredo; Javier Herrera, General Director; and Octavio Almanza Hernández, Board Member, reinforcing the role of the IMMEX and export manufacturing sector in the region’s trade agenda.
A symbolic moment of the meeting was the presentation of the Keys to the City of Laredo to Francisco Cervantes Díaz, former president of the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial, recognizing his career and contributions to Mexico’s business sector and to the strengthening of binational economic relations.
Through this first meeting, COMCE Noreste Capítulo Laredo positioned the city not only as a trade gateway, but as a strategic forum for the conversations that are defining the next stage of North American integration.
