The Laredo Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) has once again been recognized on the national stage, receiving two Bronze Awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The organization was also reinducted into the prestigious Economic Development Hall of Fame, underscoring its role as a leader in advancing regional competitiveness.
The awards honored LEDC in the categories of Magazine & Newsletter for its publication Border Insight: Laredo is on the Rise! and Innovation in Economic Development Week (EDW) for its 2024 initiatives designed to engage the community and promote investment opportunities.
Strengthening Laredo’s National Profile
LEDC’s recognition highlights how effective communication and community engagement can strengthen the positioning of border cities like Laredo within the U.S. economic landscape. By showcasing the region’s strengths in trade, logistics, and industrial development, the organization continues to amplify Laredo’s reputation as a hub for international commerce and investment.
Looking ahead
Being inducted once again into the Economic Development Hall of Fame reflects LEDC’s long-term contribution to economic growth in Laredo and Webb County. The Hall of Fame distinction is reserved for organizations that demonstrate excellence, impact, and leadership in promoting sustainable development and competitiveness.
While these awards represent a milestone, LEDC leaders emphasized that they are only the beginning of a new phase. With growing opportunities in cross-border trade, nearshoring, and industrial expansion, LEDC has reaffirmed its mission to continue attracting investment, supporting job creation, and ensuring a prosperous future for the community.
