INDEX and CBP Strengthen Collaboration to Enhance U.S.-Mexico Trade

INDEX Nacional and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) met to align priorities on border operations, supply chain security, and trade facilitation, reinforcing the U.S.-Mexico commercial partnership.
In a move to reinforce bilateral cooperation and jointly address critical trade issues, a delegation from INDEX Nacional, led by its president Humberto Martínez Cantú, held a strategic meeting with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials, headed by Susan S. Thomas, Executive Assistant Commissioner of the Office of Trade.
Shared Focus on Cross-Border Trade and Northern Border Operations
The agenda centered on topics vital to the international trade and logistics sectors, particularly those affecting importers, exporters, and supply chain stakeholders on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. Key areas of discussion included:
- Border security
- Supply chain resilience
- Tariff policy
- Compliance audits
- Rules of origin
- USMCA implementation
- Border operations efficiency
The meeting emphasized the importance of close collaboration to enhance trade flow, regulatory alignment, and mutual trust between the public and private sectors.
Mexico: The U.S.’s Leading Trade Partner
According to data from the import-export manufacturing industry, more than 50,000 freight trucks cross Mexico’s northern border daily, highlighting the country’s strategic role as the United States’ top trading partner.
INDEX Nacional publicly acknowledged CBP’s commitment to bilateral dialogue and collaborative problem-solving, especially as trade volumes and regulatory complexity continue to grow in the region.
