Horton Expands Operations with $20 Million Investment in Matamoros

Horton, a company specializing in the metal-mechanical industry, celebrated the grand opening of its new manufacturing plant in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, with a $20 million investment. The 200,000 square feet facility, located in the Finsa Oriente Industrial Park, will focus on producing automatic access doors for various sectors, including businesses, institutions, and transportation systems.
Joy Ribble, President of Horton, emphasized the significance of this expansion, highlighting Matamoros' role as their exclusive manufacturing center in Mexico since 2007. She expressed confidence in the new facility's ability to maintain competitiveness, attributing it to skilled labor and advanced technology.
Matamoros' competitive advantages, such as its collaborative ecosystem involving unions, entrepreneurs, organizations, and authorities, were also underscored during the inauguration. David Tanger, Vice President of Human Resources, noted the region's contribution to workforce development, with over 220 jobs created and continuous training opportunities available for employees.
Ruben Aznar, Plant Manager at Horton in Matamoros, led a comprehensive tour of the state-of-the-art facilities, showcasing the intricate processes involved in manufacturing automatic doors and outlining plans for production line expansion.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Federico Romero, Vice President of Horton; Trevor Hawkinson, Manufacturing Engineering Manager; and Stefanie Applewhite, Human Resources Representative. Also present were representatives from partner organizations and local authorities, highlighting the collaborative effort that made this expansion possible.
Among the dignitaries were Roberto Mattus, Director of Index Matamoros; Anabell Flores Garza, Undersecretary for Investment Promotion at the Tamaulipas Secretary of Economy; and Juan Villafuerte Morales, General Secretary of the Union of Day Laborers and Industrial Workers in the Maquiladora Industry of Matamoros. Their presence underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in driving economic growth and prosperity in the region.
