July 13, 2026
The recognition highlights the city’s collaborative efforts in education, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
Harlingen has been named a 2026 All-America City, recognizing the collective work of local organizations, businesses, community leaders, and residents to strengthen the city’s economic and social development.
A delegation representing the City of Harlingen traveled to Denver to present the initiatives and partnerships that have helped advance the community. The city’s award application emphasized programs focused on education, workforce development, and support for small businesses, demonstrating how collaboration across different sectors can generate meaningful and lasting results.
The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation participated as part of the city’s delegation, helping showcase the projects being implemented to expand economic opportunities, prepare the local workforce, and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Local business owners also played an important role in representing Harlingen’s business community. Participants included Marie Chang of Tora Bakery Co., Jacob Montalvo of Harlingen Jiu Jitsu Club, and Kelly Cabrera of KK’s Closet, who traveled to Denver and shared the perspective of the city’s small-business sector.
Harlingen-based companies also contributed products for the delegation’s exhibition space. Debbie Ramirez and Mario Godinez of Mexican Snacks, along with Frank Garcia of Bruskees Spices, donated locally made treats that helped highlight the city’s identity and entrepreneurial talent.
The Harlingen-themed promotional materials featured artwork commissioned from local artist Sandro Galicia of Face to Face Art. His work is also incorporated into custom sticker packs distributed by the city at trade shows and business-promotion events.
The 2026 All-America City Award reflects the impact of a shared vision among Harlingen’s public institutions, economic-development organizations, entrepreneurs, artists, and residents.
For the city, the recognition represents not only an important achievement, but also an opportunity to continue positioning Harlingen as a community committed to economic growth, talent development, local entrepreneurship, and regional collaboration.
