The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (Harlingen EDC) hosted a second Manufacturers Roundtable Breakfast focused on expanding awareness of the A.I.M. Harlingen grant program, an initiative designed to strengthen local manufacturing competitiveness.

Organized by TMAC South Texas, the session brought together a new group of regional manufacturers to explore how the program can support operational improvement, workforce development, and long-term growth.

Expanding Access to Technical Assistance for Manufacturers

During the roundtable, program representative David Ortiz presented details on how companies can leverage A.I.M. Harlingen resources to enhance production processes and operational efficiency. The program offers technical assistance aimed at helping manufacturers adopt best practices, optimize workflows, and strengthen overall performance.

For small and mid-sized manufacturers in particular, access to expert guidance can be a critical factor in maintaining competitiveness within increasingly complex supply chains.

Workforce Training as a Growth Driver

In addition to process improvement, the initiative emphasizes workforce training—an area of growing importance as manufacturers face skills shortages and evolving technological demands.

Training support enables companies to upskill employees, improve productivity, and prepare for advanced manufacturing requirements. Strengthening workforce capabilities also enhances the region’s attractiveness to new investment by demonstrating a commitment to talent development.

Supporting Harlingen’s Industrial Ecosystem

By hosting these roundtables, Harlingen EDC reinforces its role as a facilitator of collaboration between manufacturers, technical assistance providers, and regional stakeholders. Programs like A.I.M. Harlingen contribute to building a resilient industrial base capable of sustaining expansion and adapting to market changes.

As South Texas continues to integrate into broader North American supply chains, initiatives that improve operational efficiency and workforce readiness are essential for maintaining long-term competitiveness.

The continued outreach to local manufacturers reflects Harlingen’s proactive approach to supporting business growth and strengthening its position as an emerging industrial hub within the Rio Grande Valley.
