The CEOs of the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (Harlingen EDC) and the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC) visited Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, as part of Cameron County’s trade mission aimed at showcasing the investment opportunities offered by Harlingen and Brownsville, Texas.
Orlando Campos of Harlingen EDC and Gilberto Salinas of GBIC were featured panelists at the event titled “Cross-Border Industrial Investment Opportunities”, where key issues related to industrial development on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border were discussed. Topics included nearshoring, industrial real estate, and the implementation of a binational strategy focused on driving regional economic growth.
“There is no shortage of opportunities in Harlingen and Brownsville. It’s no surprise our county ranks as one of the most economically vibrant metro areas in the U.S. The collaboration between Harlingen and Brownsville will continue to position our region as an economic powerhouse", said Orlando Campos, CEO of Harlingen EDC.
Also participating in the panel were Ramiro Alemán, Director of the Cameron County EDC, and Brownsville Mayor John Cowen. Both emphasized the region’s competitive advantages and the wide range of incentives available to companies operating in Cameron County.
The goal of the trade mission extends beyond attracting capital and creating jobs. It seeks to establish a binational platform for economic development that leverages geographic proximity, border infrastructure, and the dynamic industrial and commercial activity that characterizes both sides of the border.
