The president of Index Nuevo Laredo, Enrique Morán, outlines the main objectives of a binational forum centered on foreign trade, human resources, cybersecurity, and environmental topics. He also previews the opening of the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) office in Nuevo Laredo, emphasizes close collaboration with Laredo, Texas, and reports steady economic growth, local investments, and new infrastructure to support industrial expansion.
Enrique Morán, president of Index Nuevo Laredo, explained that the forum was designed around five key pillars—foreign trade, human resources, cybersecurity, and environment—with the goal of connecting suppliers with the industrial sector. “We developed the program by consulting with local and regional industries. There will be five to six main speakers and several panelists over the next two days, with a strong turnout from Nuevo Laredo, Laredo, McAllen, and Reynosa,” he said.
Morán confirmed that one of the main announcements will involve the upcoming opening of the ANAM in Nuevo Laredo. “Tomorrow we’ll be authorized to share the official opening dates and explain its functions, processes, and procedures. This will directly benefit our local industry and strengthen our city’s role in international trade,” he noted.
When asked about binational collaboration, Morán highlighted the strong relationship with the Laredo Economic Development Corporation. “Our coordination with Laredo, Texas, continues to grow. Some companies on the U.S. side have already started manufacturing—not just warehousing or cross-docking—and they’re relying on Mexican logistics expertise to accelerate their progress,” he explained.
He also shared updates on local economic indicators. “Nuevo Laredo has maintained steady growth of around 5.25% compared to last year. We’re seeing an investment pipeline of approximately 300 million dollars among three companies, and more than 500,000 square feet of industrial space are now available for new operations. These are areas that didn’t exist a few years ago, and we’re working with both municipal and state governments to simplify procedures and ensure efficient, safe operations,” Morán added.
Morán concluded by noting that the ANAM in Nuevo Laredo will soon reveal its official opening date and begin explaining its operational details, bringing direct benefits to the region’s manufacturing community. The binational forum will continue for two days, with a robust agenda featuring multiple speakers, panels, and cross-border participation.
