The workforce in Edinburg, Texas, ready to meet the demands of industrial manufacturing, is supported by approximately 15,000 workers in the Rio Grande Valley region, ensuring smooth operations, development, and growth for any industrial investment project.
Carlos Garza, Project Manager at the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EDC), highlighted Edinburg's professional strengths in a study conducted by the South Texas Manufacturing Association (STMA).
Garza emphasized that Edinburg’s skilled workforce has become one of the city's main competitive advantages for attracting large-scale manufacturing investments. In addition, numerous local universities and academic centers offer training programs focused on innovation and various specializations. "Edinburg’s workforce, ready for manufacturing roles, grows daily; we have numerous students specializing in fields like engineering, mechanics, robotics, and training in innovation and artificial intelligence," Garza added.
This potential is further enhanced by Edinburg’s recent recognition as the most affordable college town in the United States, along with the immediate availability of land for manufacturing and logistics firms. "With the skilled employees and ready-to-build industrial sites, companies have nothing to worry about; plus, we can assist them in accessing economic incentives," Garza noted.
The Edinburg EDC team actively promotes the city’s diverse competitive advantages at various events in both Mexico and the United States, sparking interest among entrepreneurs and developers. Among recent events, Garza mentioned the 2024 FABTECH Expo in Orlando, the Fall Forum of the Site Selectors Guild in Detroit, and the Annual Conference of the Texas Economic Development Corporation in Austin. "We’ve been analyzing the latest trends in innovation and development, such as energy generation, artificial intelligence, and ready-to-build sites for new businesses. Our goal is to establish Edinburg as an economic and manufacturing development hub in the Rio Grande Valley," he concluded.
