Edinburg ranks among the fastest-growing U.S. cities in 2024, driven by population gains, strategic development, and Zoho’s major investment in innovation.

Edinburg, Texas is once again earning national recognition, ranking among the 25 fastest-growing large cities in the United States, according to the 2024 U.S. Census Bureau population estimates. The city’s population increased from 105,956 in 2023 to 108,733 in 2024, representing a 2.62% growth rate. Among U.S. cities with populations of over 100,000, Edinburg now ranks 25th in the nation, 10th in Texas, and holds the title of fastest-growing municipality in the Rio Grande Valley.

“Edinburg is a city on the rise,” said Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. “This continued growth reflects the strength of our community and the results of our focused investments in quality of life, infrastructure, and economic opportunity.”

Business Growth Backed by Global Investment

This population milestone comes as the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) announced a major win for the region: the acquisition of the historic Echo Hotel property by Zoho Corporation, a global software company headquartered in Austin. Zoho finalized the purchase in April and plans to transform the site into a state-of-the-art office campus, significantly expanding its operations in the Rio Grande Valley.

Well known for its suite of online business applications and serving millions of users globally, Zoho’s investment reinforces Edinburg’s status as a regional hub for innovation and business development.

“Our growth rate confirms that people see Edinburg as a place to put down roots and pursue their dreams,” said Raudel Garza, EEDC Executive Director. “We’re leading the Rio Grande Valley not only in population growth but also in economic expansion. Zoho’s investment is a prime example of that trajectory.”

A Model for Sustainable, Innovation-Driven Growth

City leaders credit Edinburg’s continued success to a strategic development model that prioritizes infrastructure, education, and entrepreneurship. Collaborative efforts across sectors have created an environment where families, students, and businesses thrive—positioning Edinburg as a magnet for talent, innovation, and high-impact investment.

As a four-time All-America City, Edinburg continues to demonstrate civic excellence and forward-thinking leadership. Its blend of dynamic growth, global business engagement, and strong community foundations makes it a rising star in South Texas’ economic transformation.
