Representatives from the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation recently met with the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) at Red Sun Farms to gain deeper insight into how targeted operational support can help companies scale, improve efficiency, and remain competitive.
Board Director Veronica Gonzales and Business Development Manager Daniel Andres Garza joined TMAC leaders for a working visit that highlighted how hands-on technical assistance can translate into measurable business results.
TMAC shared examples of how its collaboration with Red Sun Farms has contributed to job creation, capital equipment investment, and significant operational savings, while also supporting similar growth stories across other manufacturing operations in Texas.
Driving Operational Excellence Through Partnership
During the visit, Red Sun Farms’ operations leadership provided a tour of the facility, outlining progress achieved through TMAC’s advisory services and discussing future expansion plans. The discussion emphasized how continuous improvement in production processes, workforce training, and safety standards can strengthen long-term performance.
TMAC’s work spans consulting, coaching, workforce development, and certifications in areas such as operational efficiency, environmental health and safety, supply chain management, and leadership development. These services are designed to help manufacturers increase productivity while building stronger, more resilient organizations.
Strengthening Industry from the Ground Up
As the largest greenhouse grower in North America, Red Sun Farms produces tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers across operations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Its collaboration with TMAC illustrates how technical expertise and structured improvement programs can support both agricultural manufacturing and broader industrial sectors.
For Edinburg EDC, visits like this reinforce the importance of connecting local and regional businesses with resources that foster growth, innovation, and competitiveness. By engaging with partners such as TMAC, the organization continues working to ensure companies in the Rio Grande Valley have access to the tools needed to expand operations and strengthen the regional economy.
