Edinburg continues to strengthen its position as one of South Texas’s most dynamic cities with the launch of a new Workforce Resource Center and community development project at Ebony Hills. The initiative, led by the City of Edinburg and the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EEDC), represents a long-term investment in workforce readiness, infrastructure, and quality of life.
The project will transform the former Ebony Hills Golf Course area into a multipurpose space that integrates professional training, economic development, and recreation. The new facilities will include a modern clubhouse, meeting areas, and the Workforce Resource Center, designed to connect residents and employers through career development and business support programs.
Investing in people and progress
According to Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr., the new center reflects Edinburg’s vision of growth built on opportunity.
“This project embodies our commitment to preparing the workforce of tomorrow while creating spaces that benefit the entire community,” he said.
The Workforce Resource Center will provide residents with access to training resources, job placement assistance, and business advisory services, while also serving as a support hub for local employers seeking skilled talent. The EEDC’s future offices will also be housed in the facility, centralizing operations that drive investment and entrepreneurship across the region.
Raudel Garza, Executive Director of EEDC, highlighted that the project integrates economic and community development in a single vision.
“This is more than construction — it’s a statement about who we are as a city. By combining workforce empowerment, business development, and recreation, we’re creating a space that reflects Edinburg’s forward-looking identity,” he explained.
A comprehensive plan for sustainable growth
The initiative includes the construction of a new golf course clubhouse, additional parking, and meeting areas designed for flexible use. The architectural concept will reflect Edinburg’s contemporary urban style while remaining aligned with its community character.
The project forms part of the city’s ongoing 2019 Bond Program, which supports key infrastructure and development priorities. Once completed, it will enhance Edinburg’s ability to attract talent, support local businesses, and strengthen its position as a regional hub for innovation and quality of life.
