Driving Investment and Development: Costep Partners with Cobifer in Tamaulipas and Texas

Members of the South Texas Economic Progress Council (Costep) were invited as special guests to the monthly meeting of the Binational Council for Economic Development of Reynosa (Cobifer) to discuss investment attraction and economic development in Tamaulipas and Texas.
During the meeting, Rick Carrera, Director of Economic Development at Costep, and Adam Gonzalez, CEO of Costep, highlighted competitive advantages such as manufacturing expertise, connectivity, workforce, and education, emphasizing the potential to generate new jobs and improve quality of life in both regions.
Luis Cantú, Director of Cobifer, expressed the prevailing interest among Reynosa's business sector in establishing short, medium, and long-term agreements to foster economic growth.
The meeting saw the participation of authorities, leaders of business organizations, and industrial developers, including Carlos Angulo from Fibra Macquarie, Juan Carlos López from Prologis, and Martín Anzaldúa from Grupo Río San Juan.
Speakers emphasized the importance of managing greater availability of land for construction and promoting infrastructure ready to accommodate businesses.
Ralph García, Vice President of the McAllen Economic Development Corporation (McAllen EDC), highlighted the collaboration between northern Tamaulipas and southern Texas to achieve shared objectives, a sentiment echoed by Mauricio Treviño Garza, Secretary of Economic Development.
Representatives from the private sector included Sergio Gracia, President of Mexico Industry, Carlos Castro Pérez, Director of CANACINTRA Reynosa, Astrid Zapata, representative of COPARMEX Reynosa, Omar Elizondo, President of the Association of Hotels and Motels of Reynosa, and Constantino Castillo, President of CLIETT.
Other attendees included Ana Garza and Beatriz Garza from Grupo Río San Juan, Norma González, Operational Director of Cobifer, Uriel Ordóñez, President of the Reynosa Transporters Association, Roberto Avilés, Manager of CMIC Reynosa, and Jesús Barrera, Director of AAARAC, among others.
