DHL opens multicenter in Nuevo Leon
Last May 16th,
the packaging and distribution company DHL opened in the municipality of Santa
Catarina, Nuevo Leon, their new Services Multicenter at the Stiva Industrial
Park.
The center is
part of an investment of 21.3 million dollars DHL Express has fulfilled in
Mexico to grow their infrastructure in the northern and western region of the
country.
The logistics
distribution centers, known within the DHL network as HUBS, located in the
cities of Guadalajara and Monterrey will provide the company with enough
additional operative capability for the next 5 years.
In case of HUB
Nuevo Leon, the estimated investment reached 10.7 million dollars and will
create about 100 new employees in the entity.
“In DHL Express
we believe in Mexico and in its capability of development. The investment made in this facilities
respond to the growth trend that both sites have shown during the last
years. With these logistics centers, we
will be able of responding efficiently to the growing demands of our customers”
said Antonio Arranz, CEO of DHL Express Mexico.
Reduction of transit times, more efficiency in operative processes and a better connectivity of terrestrial routes on each site, there will be the benefits these facilities will provide the company. The Express division of the Grupo Deutsche Post DHL in Mexico will generate 200 new jobs, benefiting directly to the population of both cities.
Electronic commerce and local consumption
According with
company’s projection, the electronic commerce sector and of local consumption
strengthening will be fundamental factors for the increase of daily delivery
volumes in both sites.
“For DHL
Express, electronic commerce represents an important challenge of sales for
small and medium companies seeking to make their business growth. In Mexico, e-commerce currently represents 20
% of the volume in deliveries. We
consider that for 2020, this volume could duplicate,” said Mike Parra, CEO of
DHL Express for the Americas region.
