CSoftys will double its production in Tamaulipas; will invest 304 million dollars for the purchase of Onex

With the intention of doubling current production levels , the Softys company started a new expansion project at its plant located within the industrial corridor of Altamira, Tamaulipas.
The objective is to reach 60,000 tons of production per year, related to the manufacture of tissue paper and personal hygiene items. Gonzalo Darraidou, general manager of the company, explained that a first stage has already been launched with a goal of 30,000 tons that will be distributed and marketed in various regions, after manufacturing carried out in the south of the state.
The plans are focused on consolidating within the Mexican market and promoting the inclusion of new collaborators, for this reason, together with the Tamaulipas announcement, the investment of 304 million dollars was presented for the purchase of operations of the Onex company and its plant established in Puebla.
“The acquired operations and brands constitute a perfect complement to the current activities of our subsidiary in Mexico, since it incorporates not only a highly specialized team and manufacturing lines of high-tech personal care products, but also well-known brands for consumers. Mexicans”, explained the general manager.
Among these brands, he detailed those that are marketed in various commercial spaces, pharmacies and health care in the country such as BBTips, Chicolastic, Kiddies and BioBaby .
In addition to the growth and expansion of Altamira in Tamaulipas and the purchase of operations in Puebla, it was indicated that the company is seeking to create a new plant in the country, for which reason land evaluations are being carried out.
“This is a highly relevant and strategic operation that is aligned with our objective of growing in markets with high development potential for the personal care business, such as Brazil and Mexico; we continue to advance decisively in our objective of consolidating ourselves as the largest operator of tissue and personal care products in Latin America”, added Darraidou.
Softys is a subsidiary of the Chilean company CMPC, specialized in the production and marketing of hygiene and personal care products, including toilet paper, napkins, paper towels, handkerchiefs, children's and adult diapers, as well as feminine protection, which are transferred to the main hospitals, clinics and health care centers.
The company has a presence and production in at least eight Latin American countries, such as Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Uruguay, and also Mexico.
With the purchase of Onex operations , it is expected to add more than 1,000 collaborators to its work team.
Ready for investments
The president of the Council of Business Institutions of the South of Tamaulipas , José Luis del Ángel Sosa, explained in an interview with Mexico Industry that the economic and industrial corridor of Altamia, Tampico and Madero has various competitive advantages that allow the consolidation of new companies or projects of enlargement.
For this reason, they remain alert with the management of tasks through more than 20 business chambers, to receive and manage requests from companies interested in occupying industrial spaces.
“There are many advantages and benefits in the region for industries to prosper, from manufacturing to petrochemicals, as well as small and medium businesses; We have a consolidated work plan and an approach to nuclei, business chambers, authorities, in addition there is a guarantee of workers, access to basic services, ”he explained.
