COSTEP promotes regional alliance to attract investment and strengthen talent in South Texas

South Texas

The agreement signed in Cameron County represents a key step in positioning the region as an attractive destination for new industrial investment, said Adam González, CEO of COSTEP.

In a context where major companies are evaluating relocation to South Texas, talent availability has become a decisive factor.

A key moment for industrial growth

González emphasized that the region is at an inflection point in terms of economic development.

“We are at a very important moment where new industries are looking at us. Major companies want to establish here,” he said.

However, he warned that success will depend on the region’s ability to build a workforce aligned with market needs.

Building a talent pipeline

The agreement will allow the education sector, economic organizations, and local governments to coordinate efforts.

“We need to come together to create that talent pipeline that will allow us to attract companies and generate jobs for residents,” he said.

This coordination will be key to responding to industrial projects already under development in the region.

Regional impact beyond Cameron County

The scope of the agreement goes beyond the county, becoming part of a broader vision for South Texas.

“This benefits not only one community, but the entire county, the Rio Grande Valley, and the South Texas region,” he said.

Medium- and long-term results

Although results will not be immediate, González emphasized the importance of a strategic vision.

“In one year, we will see progress, but this is long-term work. There are several projects in the pipeline, and we must be prepared,” he said.

The initiative seeks to consolidate a strong talent base that will allow the region to capitalize on investment opportunities in the coming years.
