COSTEP Presents the Rio South Texas Region Industrial DataSystem to Reynosa Manufacturing Companies
August 27, 2025
As part of the seminar “Updates in Foreign Trade and Compliance” organized by O&P Tax Consulting Group, Adam González, CEO of COSTEP (Council for South Texas Economic Progress), presented the Rio South Texas Region Binational AutoCluster and its first strategic phase: the Rio South Texas Region Industrial DataSystem. This tool aims to position the region as a key hub for the automotive industry, leveraging the economic and logistical integration between northern Tamaulipas and South Texas.
The Industrial DataSystem is a digital platform designed to consolidate detailed information about manufacturing companies in the region. It will enable the identification of key industrial sectors, mapping of manufacturing processes and distinctive products, and the creation of an accurate diagnosis of the local and regional manufacturing ecosystem.
According to González, the platform will provide reliable data for investors seeking to understand what is produced in the region, strengthening the strategic promotion of the binational area. He invited companies to register through the available form and emphasized that the active participation of all sectors will be critical to the success of this initiative.
“When we travel to cities in Europe or the northern United States to promote the region and attract investment, the first question investors ask is: What is produced? What do we manufacture? Providing this information gives investors a clear picture and greater certainty about the region’s capabilities,” González explained.
During the event, companies were introduced to the registration form that interested firms must complete to join the initiative. This database is intended to strengthen local supply chains and will be made available for consultation.
“This information will also be accessible to you for consultation. We’ve seen cases where companies import parts from abroad when, in fact, suppliers in the same city could manufacture them. The problem is that this information hasn’t been available,” González added.
The meeting brought together representatives of various maquiladora companies from Reynosa and the region, and included the participation of Humberto Martínez, President of Index Nacional; Alfredo Guajardo, President of Index Reynosa; and Eduardo Pol Maldonado, Managing Partner and Tax Leader at O&P Tax Consulting Group, all of whom encouraged companies to join the initiative.
