With the goal of strengthening binational collaboration and positioning the region as a strategic hub for the automotive industry, COSTEP, Consejo para el Progreso Económico del Sur de Texas, welcomed a delegation from the Asociación Nacional de Proveedores del Sector Automotriz (ANAPSA), composed of key representatives from Mexico’s automotive supply sector.

The visit began this week in McAllen, Texas, where ANAPSA members—led by its president, Alberto Bustamante—were received by Adam Gonzalez, CEO of COSTEP, during a welcome dinner that marked the start of a working agenda focused on showcasing the region’s logistics, industrial, and investment potential.

Strategic tour highlights regional capabilities

Throughout their stay, the delegation is participating in a strategic “quick tour” designed to connect automotive suppliers with key economic stakeholders in South Texas, as well as with critical infrastructure supporting international trade.

Activities continue in Brownsville, Texas, where the delegation will meet with representatives from the port, officials from Cameron County, and local economic development organizations. These sessions are focused on exploring logistics capabilities, port infrastructure, and collaboration opportunities to support sector growth.

Strengthening binational supply chains

The agenda will conclude in McAllen with additional meetings involving regional economic development organizations, Foreign Trade Zone representatives, and binational logistics specialists. The objective is to strengthen institutional relationships and identify new opportunities for investment and expansion among automotive suppliers.

This visit reflects growing interest in reinforcing cross-border supply chains between Mexico and the United States, particularly in a region that has consolidated its role as a strategic platform for manufacturing, logistics, and international trade.

The presence of ANAPSA in South Texas not only opens the door to new partnerships but also reinforces the South Texas Region’s positioning as a key player in the future of the North American automotive industry.
