With the laying of the first stone, construction work began on what will be the new Strategic Fiscalized Precinct of Nuevo Laredo , Tamaulipas.

As part of the first stage, a warehouse of just over 14,400 square meters is being built, which will be certified as a strategic bonded facility. The project, which is led by Palos Garza, a company with more than 35 years of experience in international trade, contemplates in the long term having 21 hectares for offices and transportation.

The first phase will conclude in October of this year, and after having the authorization of a strategic audited facility, between the first and second phases, about 1,500 to 2,000 jobs will be generated for executives at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.

Mario Palos Garza, president of the Tamaulipas Logistics and Supply Chain Cluster, indicated that the investment is made because, given the needs that arise in commercial matters, it is necessary to generate new competitive tools for Nuevo Laredo.

"New work schemes are required, what better than right now, because the dynamic that is being generated between Mexico, the United States and Canada requires that we, the Nuevo Laredo border, be ready and prepared for it," he said.

ADVANTAGES OF THE STRATEGIC SUPERVISED PREMISES

One of the advantages of the strategic bonded area is that it allows foreign, national or nationalized merchandise to be introduced for a limited time to be handled, stored, custody, exhibited, sold, distributed, processed, transformed or repaired, and courier, with the benefit of not pay foreign trade taxes or countervailing duties.

“We must produce or transform merchandise in Nuevo Laredo to be more participatory in the industry and that is what this is going to generate, that we seek to make it a strategic bonded facility,” explained Mario Palos.

He added that this is a strategic tool for the industry and, with the capacity and experience that Nuevo Laredo has in tax and customs matters, they can develop it.

For his part, Jorge Viñals Ortíz de la Peña, director of the Tamaulipas Logistics and Supply Chain Cluster, said that this project will greatly contribute to the competitiveness of the border in the region.

“The venue is one of the most ambitious in the region and will be a source of employment not only directly, but also indirectly. We are at a crucial moment of global development and of the development that our country has in the trade agreement that Mexico has with the United States and Canada, this is a situation that predicts the future,” he concluded.
