The Port of Brownsville, one of the leading logistics engines of the South Texas border, received the “Rodolfo González Garza” Export Merit Award in the Institution Supporting Exports category for its significant role in strengthening foreign trade across northeastern Mexico.

The award was presented during the Annual Assembly of the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade (COMCE) Noreste, in a ceremony that brought together business leaders, government officials, and members of international trade promotion organizations. William Dietrich, CEO, and Guillermo Rico-Leal, Director of Business Development, accepted the award on behalf of the port.

A Strategic Partner for Regional Exports

This recognition highlights the port’s contribution as a key facilitator of Mexican exports, particularly from northeastern states such as Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, and Coahuila. Thanks to its intermodal connectivity, logistics services, and binational focus, the Port of Brownsville has become a vital asset for the operational efficiency of hundreds of exporting companies.

Beyond its infrastructure, the port has strengthened institutional collaboration with stakeholders in the Mexican export ecosystem, earning its position as a strategic ally in the region’s trade expansion.

Export Excellence Recognized

Alongside the port, several companies were also honored for outstanding performance in foreign trade:

  • La Maizería – Microenterprise category
  • OM Productos de mi Tierra – Small business
  • Regiomármol – Medium-sized business
  • Fluidmaster – Large exporting company
  • Segrove – Foreign trade services
  • Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Mexico – Logistics category

New Leadership and Future Vision

During the event, Javier Cendejas assumed the presidency of COMCE Noreste, pledging to continue the organization’s institutional vision, promote export growth, and strengthen ties between businesses and public institutions.

“I take on this responsibility with great enthusiasm and conviction. We will continue working toward a competitive and collaborative environment that empowers our companies to reach farther,” stated the new president.

A Recognition with Binational Impact

The award presented to the Port of Brownsville not only reflects its legacy and commitment to international trade, but also reaffirms the importance of Mexico–U.S. ties in logistics, industry, and economic development. The port continues to play a key role in sustaining the region’s export dynamism, in an environment where geographic proximity and strategic cooperation make the difference.

With this recognition, the Port of Brownsville further strengthens its position as a world-class logistics platform, serving the economic development of both sides of the border.
