The city of Pharr, Texas, and the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra) San Luis Potosí have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening economic ties between Mexico and the United States through investment projects, capital attraction, and business development initiatives.

Strategic Cooperation for Investment

Víctor Pérez, President and CEO of Pharr Economic Development, emphasized that the agreement will enable the sharing of resources and opportunities, creating a framework of mutual support for new investments. “You cannot do these things or these investments alone. It’s about helping each other,” he stated.

For her part, Lilbet Santos, Director of Business Economic Development for Pharr, explained that this agreement is one of the first results of the memorandum signed two months ago with Canacintra Nacional, now formalized in San Luis Potosí. She underscored that the central objective is to attract foreign investment and integrate Mexican companies into the global business cycle.

Driving Clusters and Value Chains

Imelda Elizalde Martínez, President of Canacintra San Luis Potosí, highlighted that the agreement opens opportunities for SMEs and strategic sectors such as logistics, automotive, medical, and manufacturing. She noted that the partnership will promote business relations, forums, business tourism, and inter-company meetings. “We believe this strengthened relationship can specifically drive the economic development of San Luis Potosí and Texas,” she remarked.

Salvador Esparza del Pozo, Vice President of Canacintra in the state, stressed that the collaboration represents “enormous potential” in industrial, commercial, and educational areas, given San Luis Potosí’s strategic location and its connectivity with Pharr through its international bridge.

From the municipal perspective, Héctor Andrade, Director of Economic Development for Soledad de Graciano Sánchez, stated that the agreement will connect investors with the municipality’s industrial and logistics corridor while also offering young professionals direct exposure to labor market demands.

In the tourism sector, Claudia Nava, from the San Luis Potosí Hotels and Motels Association, pointed out that the agreement opens the door to positioning business tourism as a strategic partner within this collaborative platform, benefiting the state’s four regions.

With this agreement, San Luis Potosí and Pharr strengthen a relationship of more than a decade, betting on a binational cooperation model designed to drive investment and generate economic well-being on both sides of the border.
