More than 90 companies from both sides of the border gathered for the 2025 International Business Summit, organized by CANACINTRA Matamoros to foster stronger ties between Mexico and the United States and promote supply chain integration across the Texas–Tamaulipas border region.

The event was held in partnership with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and key industrial and business organizations, with support from sponsors committed to driving cross-border economic development.

Strengthening Regional Collaboration and Supply Chains

Hosted at River Bend Resort & Golf Club in Brownsville, Texas, the summit began with the traditional golf tournament —a decade-long networking tradition— followed by three panel sessions featuring 15 industry specialists.

  • Buyers’ Panel: Representatives from maquiladora companies discussed procurement opportunities for suppliers and service providers.
  • Customs Panel: Experts from both countries analyzed the impact of tariff policies in Mexico and the U.S.

Economic Outlook Panel: Regional economic development leaders shared insights on industrial performance and future projections for Tamaulipas and Texas.

“This year, we introduced a new format combining the traditional golf tournament with business panels and networking sessions. The goal is to connect local companies with the maquiladora industry through a binational approach,” said Óscar Macario Farías García, President of CANACINTRA Matamoros.

Key Participants and Economic Vision

One of the most anticipated sessions was the Economic Perspective Panel, featuring Guillermo Rico (Port of Brownsville), Griselda Muñoz (GBIC), Joaquín Spammer (Ríoplex), and Guillermo Federico Lash de la Fuente (CANACINTRA Nacional), along with Óscar Macario Farías García.

“The goal is to connect, participate, and identify opportunities. Economic growth depends on collective engagement —if we don’t participate actively, development may pass us by,” Farías emphasized.

  • The summit concluded with the awards ceremony for the ‘O Yes’ winners, recognizing outstanding participants:
  • 3rd place: Javier Domínguez and Orlando Hernández, represented by their colleagues from San Judas Tadeo.
  • 2nd place: Raúl Villarreal and Reynaldo Leal of RL Photography and Films.
  • 1st place: Ruby Barba and Enedelia Dena of IBC Bank.

The 2025 International Business Summit reinforced Brownsville and Matamoros as strategic centers of binational economic cooperation, where industry, logistics, and commerce converge to create new opportunities for investment and sustainable regional growth.
