Beatriz Castro, International Legal Officer at Starr-Camargo Bridge Company, participated in an engaging session with Law students at Tecmilenio University, Reynosa Campus, Tamaulipas. She encouraged students to embrace learning opportunities and cultivate skills essential for achieving professional success.

Castro, who shared her career journey and professional expertise, was the guest of honor at this academic gathering.

“I started as a public defender in the criminal courts of my native Sinaloa. Later, I worked afternoons in the accounts department of a construction company. I then pursued teaching, and 15 years later, I moved to the border region to work as an international attorney and administrator. Currently, I focus on the legal operations at Starr-Camargo,” Castro recounted.

Starr-Camargo Bridge Company oversees and manages operations at the Starr-Camargo International Bridge, a privately-owned bridge facilitating commercial traffic between Camargo, Tamaulipas, and Rio Grande City, Texas.

In addition to her legal career, Castro is a passionate advocate for economic development in the region.

“It has been a journey filled with challenges and learning, always driven by a passion for law. My message to the students is that dreams belong to those who work for them and that it’s never too late to achieve them,” she concluded.

Currently, the Starr-Camargo International Bridge operates a joint inspection program, enabling simultaneous customs processing by U.S. and Mexican authorities. Its infrastructure supports the processing of up to 800 trucks daily. Moreover, the administration has launched a lane expansion project aimed at boosting economic growth and streamlining commercial processes between Tamaulipas and Texas.
