Bosch will continue to grow in Queretaro

The German company Bosch endorsed its confidence in Mexico and in Queretaro; Jeeva Kumar, vice-president and plant manager of Bosch in Queretaro; announced that they are not only committed in creating new business opportunities, also with the generation of more jobs in the area.

According to Jeeva Kumar, the first step of Bosch has been consolidating the operation of this plant, for later analyze the increase in production.

“Right now we are finishing establishing the plant and also we are thinking integrating more businesses this year.  Currently, we have three production lines, at the end of the year we will have another line and in 2020 we are thinking in having two more,” he noted.

Also, he said that currently they have about 200 workers – those Bosch call associates – and that, based on projections, it is expected to reach 500 in 2020.

“As long as we are expanding our business, we will continue incorporating people according to what we planned,” he said.

The company began its second year of operations of its plant located in the municipality of Colon.  It is the first factory in Mexico for Bosch Automotive Steering division and has increased the capability of Bosch to serve the North American market needs with an approximate annual production of 500,000 components.

The complex has a surface of more than 15,000 square meters.  In production center components are assembled of assisted electric direction Dual Pinion Servotronic.  This system assist the driver and consumes energy only when the wheel turns, therefore when driving in straight line energy expense tends to be kept in zero, generating a decrease in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Regarding supply, Jeeva Kuman explained that the Bosch’s main objective is to increase the number of local suppliers.

Bosch has a purchases office, where the team is in charge of seeking supplying companies nationally which can supply the company in Mexico.

Regarding this, Marco Quero, Corporate Communication manager in Bosch Mexico, said that even if supplying companies fulfill quality standards and requirements demanded by Bosch, these have the opportunity of becoming regional suppliers.

“They visit the plants, offering advisory and also develop local suppliers,” he noted.

HUMAN TALENT

For Bosch, two of its strategic pillars are human talent and social responsibility.

“We are very interested in how we can compensate society and how we can mane our associates feel important, comfortable and happy within a work environment.  It is not only about a production plant, but of an ecosystem we are generating,” emphasized Jeeva Kumar, vice-president and manager of Bosch plant in Queretaro.

Regarding this, Jorge Garibay Mora, human resources manager in Bosch Mexico, explained that the company has clear tolos to measure associates satisfaction.

“We have no critical turnover issue, but that is not why we are exempt of using these tools that allow us prevent this subject.  We are seeking to create a sense of belonging.”

Although must of the associates are Young, Bosch is committed with diversity, therefore age in hiring ranks between 18 and 70 years.  Bosch is pioneer in dual formation program in Mexico, which is a linking scheme between training and work.

“Practically, what we do in this program is to support young people for them to be able to incorporate and finish their academic experience, and thus generate talent for future positions,” he underlined.

Currently the dual formation system is established in Bosch plants in Toluca, Ciudad Juarez and San Luis Potosi.

It is anticipated that as the production center grows in Queretaro the model will be incorporated to generate talent for future positions.
