Aptiv  confirmed that it will establish a new manufacturing plant in El Salto , Jalisco, in which it will be investing 40 million dollars to produce low-voltage harnesses for electric cars , thereby generating 2,200 jobs.

This will be Aptiv's 33rd plant in Mexico and will begin operations next September. The Irish global technology company, currently with more than 77,000 employees in the country, develops and produces safer, greener and more connected solutions that make the sustainable future of mobility a reality.

Arturo Alvarez, president of Aptiv Latin America and president of EDS , commented that Jalisco will be the company's new home, and this new manufacturing site strengthens the commitment to create and promote electric mobility.

In this region, a very important part of the central nervous system of the vehicle will be produced , that is, the low voltage harnesses for electric cars. Harnesses work like the veins in a car, carrying high-speed data and electricity to run the vehicle through them.

"We see this town with enormous potential, it has a strategic location that capitalizes on proximity to our clients, and the most important thing is that we know that the talent and conditions we need for a successful operation exist," he said.

The new operation is expected to produce an annual average of 10 million parts for the North American market, which will be assembled in at least 464,000 electric cars per year.

In terms of sustainability, Aptiv  is committed to being carbon neutral by 2040. In addition, we build strong ties with the communities where we operate, we are perceived as a valued partner and a good corporate citizen.

In 2022, Aptiv México and its collaborators donated more than 600,000 dollars, which were used to support activities with a social impact in the areas of education, health, and reforestation, among others.

As a technology company with a successful legacy of 100 years globally and more than 44 in Mexico, we are changing the way the world moves. At the end of June, we will start the recruitment process for those interested in joining the team.
