With an estimated investment of more than USD 20 million, construction has begun in the city of Brownsville on Anchor Industrial, a modern logistics center designed to meet the growing demand for industrial space in the Rio Grande Valley.
The project, led by Carlos García, CEO of Anchor Logistics, together with CIL Capital, will feature an 18,000-square-meter facility equipped with 52 dock doors. Designed under a cross-dock operation model, it will streamline the distribution of goods for suppliers across various industries established in the region.
“We are very excited about this groundbreaking. Brownsville has proven to be a strategic point for new investments, and we want to offer a first-class option for supply chains,” said García during the groundbreaking ceremony, which was attended by local authorities, clients, and partners.
This new facility addresses the growing demand for industrial space, driven by the arrival of major corporations in Brownsville and the relocation of many suppliers to companies such as Amazon, SpaceX, and LNG.
“There is practically no industrial space left, so we are working with investors and companies to come and invest. Land is available, either at the port or with us at the industrial park. This Anchor Industrial facility is key to our future plans,” said Gilberto Salinas, CEO of the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation.
The facility represents a USD 15 million investment and is expected to be completed by June 2026, when operations are scheduled to begin. However, according to the developers, half of the space already has signed letters of intent from companies planning to install light manufacturing lines, with an additional investment of around USD 5.5 million in machinery and equipment. The other half remains available for companies interested in expanding into the region.
“This is a project built with friends, clients, and partners who share the enthusiasm for driving Brownsville’s economic development,” added García.
With this groundbreaking, Anchor Logistics and CIL Capital are helping position Brownsville as one of the most dynamic industrial hubs on the U.S.-Mexico border.
