ABB Mexico, San Luis Potosi, the Swiss company will continue investing in SLP

ABB Mexico plant, San Luis Potosi, located at WTC Industrial Park is the largest of the brand in the entire continent, it has generated more than 2,000 direct jobs in the local sector and 5,000 in the entire country.


Vicente Magana, president, and general director of ABB assured the company Swiss company will continue to invest in Mexico, aiming to continue exporting technology migrated to digitalization, with a sustainable approach.


“The first six months of the year have been positive for ABB we have had a double-digit growth, although there are internal and external factors that affect the Mexican economy, there are other positive ones such as the digitalization of the electric sector, therefore we have taken advantage of this to gain market,” he noted.


The president and general director of ABB explained the company will continue to invest in San Luis Potosi, therefore they are constructing two buildings for the Global Business Services area (GBS) of San Luis Potosi, which will be functioning by the end of the year.


Its main customers are the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE, by its Spanish initials,) Iberdrola, Grupo Aldesa and Grupo Avanzia and, recently the German Assembler BMW, since the technology created from ABB will participate in the electric corridor held by BMW in the San Luis Potosi – Queretaro section.


“We have fulfilled 30 % of the electric corridors developed by CFE, one of our main customers, like Petroleos Mexicanos, who operate with our models and technology,” he said.

 

ABB MEXICO IN SAN LUIS POTOSI

In the SLP campus are fulfilled engineering operations, manufacturing, purchases, and logistics; testing and shipment of electric equipment of low, medium and high tension. As well as the repair and robot renovation of the industrial sector, the assembly of cells dedicated to specialized manufacturing operations through robots basically serving the automotive and food industry.


ABB Mexico operations from the manufacturing área serve the Mexican markets, Canadian, the United States and of some Asian countries; and customers of different industrial sectors such as the automotive, public services, mining, petroleum and gas, food and beverages, as well as those of renewable energy.


The Business Unit EPDS manufacture medium and low tension equipment, besides, they produce switchers in medium tension for weathering and restaurateurs in outdoors medium tension equipment; and an additional product they manufacture are capacitors banks for low tension.


In the high tension and transformers manufacture operation mechanisms, control cabinets, dead tank switch, among others; besides LBOR transformers, control cabinets, fuses, and switches.


FIRST PLANT THAT GENERATES ITS ENERGY

70 % of the energy consumed in the campus is generated in their photovoltaic park, recognized in the framework of MIREC (Mexican International Renewable Energy Congressen) 2012 as the best renewable energy project.
